When 54‑year‑old Beatrice arrived at KIVUCE Foundation, she was exhausted and seriously unwell. Living with HIV and unable to afford the medicines she needed, her blood pressure had risen to a dangerous level, and she was struggling with fever, headaches, diarrhoea and high blood glucose.

As a single mother of three, she feared she might no longer be able to care for her children.

The team at KIVUCE Foundation were able to act quickly. Using Inter Care‑donated equipment - including a digital blood pressure machine, pulse oximeter and blood glucose monitor - staff assessed her safely and diagnosed high blood pressure and diabetes. She immediately began treatment with Inter Care‑supplied medicines, alongside counselling and emergency food support to help stabilise her health at home.

Beatrice is now slowly recovering. She still needs good nutrition to strengthen her immunity, but she is well enough to look after her children again - and they are happily back in school.

She told staff that the free medical care she received has given her hope and the strength to keep going.
