This hospital founded in 1964 is based in the Diocese of Lilongwe. The population fo the catchment area is 43,641 and the condition of the roads is dusty and potholed. The nearest referral hospital is 101km. The hospital has 140 beds in 4 wards with a staff total of 195. The most common diseases are Malaria, Anaemia, Pneumonia and Sepsis.

After waiting for Inter Care support for a while now, we are delighted that we sent them their first consignment of medicines worth nearly £2,000 in October 2010.

This Anglican foundation is the main hospital at Chilema, right in the centre of the tea-growing area of southern Malawi, and has been working since 1940. The population of the catchment area is more than 90,000. The Hospital has 156 general and maternity beds and provides surgery and dental treatment as well as staffing 4 outreach clinics that visit villages on a monthly basis. HIV / AIDS services include community home-based care programmes.
