St Josephs Hospital, Soweto

Tanzania Nurse at St Josheps Soweto

This outstanding small hospital, founded in 2001 is in a small urban area on the outskirts of the town of Moshi. It is currently in the hands of Sr. Doctor Urbani, assisted by a local professor who has spent time at St. Thomas Hospital in London. Equipment has been acquired from people they have known and in particular the operating theatres are models of perfection. Though there are larger hospitals within Moshi Diocese, with exemplary dedication, this hospital provides the local population with excellent services.

After a visit in September in 2009, we learnt that the current level of beds is 50 which will increase to 80 in the near future due to the opening of a new Gynaecological and Obstetric Unit which is almost completed. Their need for further instruments from Inter Care has become more acute as the surgical service develops.
