Matai Health Centre
Submitted by editor on 23. October 2008 - 13:10
A small but much valued centre in a remote part of western Tanzania, started in 1969, staffed by Sisters from the Congregation of O/L Queen of Africa at Sumbawanga, the only large town in the area and 59km away. Accommodation was very limited at the time of our last visit because the demand on the services was very great as patients have no means of travelling to Sumbawanga. The staff work long hours and show great initiative in solving problems as they serve a catchment area of almost 40,000 people.
