This is a large hospital where the staff is headed by Sisters of the Medical Missionaries of Mary. Inter Care supplies could only make a very small contribution to the overall needs, so it concentrates on those medicines most needed by their patients suffering from HIV/AIDS. It does however also send some of the more sophisticated medicines which the smaller units may not be able to deal with. Makiungu Hospital is 8 hours by road from the nearest referral hospital. As with many areas of Tanzania the most common diseases are malaria and its related conditions.
