Kongei Dispensary
Submitted by editor on 23. October 2008 - 13:02
This unit, run by the Sisters of the Congregation of Our Lady of Usambara (the COLU Sisters) is small but provides the only medical help in a remote area. It was established originally as an infirmary for the boarding school the Sisters have at Kongei. It has developed into the local medical centre but treats only basic conditions and refers more serious cases to hospital at Lushoto. A doctor visits every 3 months. It is dependent for water on boreholes.
