A.I.C.T
The initials stand for the “African Inland Church of Tanzania”, a very active evangelical body of people who have established many medical units in northern Tanzania. They run two hospitals, one in Mwanza town and one at Mkula in a remote area 100 km to the north. Some 20 other small units are scattered over a wide area. Inter Care has been sending supplies for these units since 1992, welcoming the opportunity to extend its reach to an area where communication is normally difficult. The consignments are sent directly to the airport at Mwanza where they are immediately collected by A.I.C.T. staff who share the supplies between the units as needs dictate. Each year the units treat more than 22,000 outpatients and 12,000 in-patients. Visiting Inter Care staff reported on the high standard of care and integrity.
