Pre-school Clinic, Biu
Biu Clinic is a typical rural clinic, serving a population of about 6,000 in a very poor area. It was started by The Presentation Brothers in the 1970’s to meet an urgent need for pre-school children and their mothers but has since been taken under the general supervision of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese. Only out-patient services are available but as well as Primary Health Care, these include Community-Based Care in villages that are visited twice weekly.
When Inter Care visited in September 2010 they were in the process of renovating the clinic. They treat a lot of malaria related illnesses and have a lot of accidental injuries due in the main to the fact that they are a farming community where only basic tools are used. This clinic certainly deserves any support that we can give them.
