Komfo Anokye Diabetic Clinic
Submitted by editor on 22. October 2008 - 13:42
The diabetic centre at the government teaching hospital in Kumasi is one of the few government units supported by Inter Care. It was set up in 1996 by Sister Patricia Story, currently the Chair of Trustees of Inter Care. Staff from the unit also visit regional hospitals to train staff in the management of diabetes in order to encourage management of diabetes locally. Inter Care helps by supplying insulin syringes and other diabetes specific items.
Following a visit in February 2009, we can report that the centre is thriving and the number of patients is growing. They are still in need of support from Inter Care as they are still unable to obtain insulin syringes.
