St Martin de Porres Catholic Mission Hospital Njinikon

Cameroon St Martin de Porres Catholic Mission Hospital Njinikon

High up among mountains of the North-West Province that remind one of Switzerland, the Franciscan Sisters have established their compound to include not only the major hospital of the area offering surgery and all the usual facilities, but also a large convent, farms, an orphanage, a pharmacy manufacturing simple preparations, etc. Outstanding is the initiative called Project Hope, which has achieved for Njinikom Hospital government recognition as a national HIV/AIDS treatment Centre. Inter Care played a major role in getting the Project Hope programme off the ground and still supplies a considerable volume of medicines.

A visit in October 2008 has seen fantastic developments. A large new Maternity/Obstetric/Gynae unit is being built. The pharmacy factory is flourishing. This hospital however, still needs our parcels.

The organic growth of Project Hope is outstanding. Their service now includes youth groups and an extended local information centre in the market in Bamenda. It would appear as soon as a new need is seen, the volunteers simply address it and form an extended service to cover it. Their services to the youth are very well received.
