The Catholic Mission Health Centre, which was started in 1965 and has been supported by Inter Care since 1986, has 45 beds and a laboratory but no theatre. This creates problems when patients – such as mothers with a difficult delivery – need to be referred to the nearest hospital at Shishong 25km away. The Health Centre holds maternity, ante-natal, and vaccination clinics and organises education and community-based care programmes help for HIV/AIDS patients. Djottin Health Centre looks after a population of around 8000 people.
