Who are we?

Inter Care – Medical Aid for Africa was founded in 1974 by two Leicestershire GPs. Sadly both Dr. David Rosenburg and his wife Dr. Patricia O’Keefe have now passed away. However Inter Care’s active body of trustees under Sr. Patricia Story SRN SCM keeps alive their tradition of saving valuable medicines from landfill and incineration in the UK, and using them to help alleviate suffering and save lives in Africa.
Inter Care has always been a low overheads charity and even today keeps its costs to a minimum by making extensive use of volunteer expertise. A panel of 25 volunteers including qualified doctors, nurses and pharmacists quality check all our medicines whilst other professionals give their time to support us with accounting, communications and managerial skills. The charity employs no full time staff but has three part-time employees who manage the day to day running of the office and warehouse.

The cost of packing and despatch of each parcel is increasing significantly and is now the largest single component of our annual costs.
